Garmin Nuvi 760 Review

There’s a bewildering array of in-car GPS systems to choose from nowadays. I have owned an off-brand system for a little over a year now and have made do with this until a week ago. On a trip to an unfamiliar area a month ago, I was running late for an appointment and relied on my old GPS system to get me there. It did fine on getting me to the general area then proceeded to take me around the block. And around again. Then again. I came close to throwing the thing out of the window and vowed right there and then that I was going to invest in a decent system.

I did a lot of research on the web and eventually narrowed my choice down to three different models, two of them from Garmin and one from TomTom.

The Garmin Nuvi 760 includes multi-destination routing, spoken directions with real street names and integrated traffic receivers. This model also includes a picture viewer, an MP3 player, a world travel clock, currency and measurement converter and a calculator.

Choosing Gps Navigation Software

A GPS system, if you have chosen the correct one, can help you navigate cities you have never driven in before and get from one state to another on roads that do not have a lot of landmarks to reference during the trip. Road trip enthusiasts who take their trips using an RV or recreational vehicle commonly use GPS systems. They are doing so much driving that they do not want to use a paper map. It is still in your best interest to learn how to read a paper map in the event that your GPS system malfunctions during your trip.

When choosing your GPS navigation software, you should make sure the navigation system comes with a feature that detects traffic and helps you avoid it altogether. Knowing ahead of time that there is a traffic incident on your route, or on a route you are about to travel, helps you avoid the delay and keep to your schedule. For the most part, coverage is limited to only major cities and major roadways, such as Interstates, but some GPS systems provide this service for almost all roads of the country.
